I enjoy puzzles, probably way too much. XD Among the many things I missed doing while away for two weeks (Talking with friends, sleeping, writing junk posts, and eating) I missed doing my daily (?) puzzle. XD
Not quite 100+, but it this was a 91 piece-puzzle from MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20044245?cat=uj&d=080909
Quote: The bark of the birth tree is practically imperishable, due to the resinous oil which it contains.
Time: 9 min. 26 sec. (I know, I was super slow. Don’t make fun of me. XD)
Then a 154 piece puzzle from Jigzone.com:

Tis a Toucan XD
Time: 17 min. 14 sec. I’m very slow. >_<
Puzzles are fun XD
First to Fall?

New Zealand has now had two quarters of consecutive decline (Q1 -0.3%; Q2 -0.2%.) Under traditional definitions, two quarters of decline are considered to be a recession. New Zealand is said to be be suffering from drought, high food and fuel prices, and the ongoing credit fiasco. I do need to get back in the game. XD 2 weeks gone and so much has happened. Makes me wonder who’ll be next? Australia? Europe? US? Japan maybe?
Ginkgo Tree?

Above is possibly a Ginkgo leaf from a tree I found on Campus. I was too short to reach a live leaf, so I had to get this one from the ground near the tree. XD It sure does look like a Ginkgo leaf:
Source Wikipeda: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginkgo_biloba
What I do know about Ginkgo trees, It has been cultivated for hundreds of years by Chinese monks. Their fan shaped leaves are an unique characteristic. That and the species is widely considered to be a living fossil, with it’s modern characteristics being similar to it’s ancestor.
Apparently it’s a very hardy tree, it’s been said that 4 Ginkgo trees survived the Atomic Bombing in Hiroshima, Japan. http://www.xs4all.nl/~kwanten/hiroshima.htm
Free Gas for Lawmakers~

Recipe for corruption?
1- Giving state-issued cars to CA lawmakers.
2- Free gasoline for CA lawmakers in the form of a gas card.
3- No records of how much gas was billed to taxpayers is necessay.
Doesn’t quite sound to good to me. XD Where’s my Free Gas?!
Russia + 2 “states” = ?

Seems like Russia won’t be withdrawing to pre-war levels. Then again, it truly isn’t that suprising. 8,000 troops in two regions that combined are a little larger than Vanuatu, seems a bit much to me. I wonder if the Russians are afraid of retaliation from Georgia or Nato?

President Medvedev has also struck back on Codi’s remarks about Russia returning to it’s past. Though the 25% increase in military spending does seem to contradict this somewhat. He spoke how most leaders speak: “No outside forces will control us or tell us what to do” in the most basic sense of the termology.
Actual quote by Presiden Medvedev:
“No new outside factors, let alone outside pressure on Russia, will change our strategic course,” Medvedev said.

All quite interesting to see what will occur in the next few months, will Russia continue to try and reassurt itself? Or will it back down for now?
Name that VP

History does have a tendency to repeat itself…
While many in the media are ranting and raving how Sarah Palin doesn’t have the experience to become President if something happened to John McCain (What about Obama?! He has LESS), one must take a look at history and see the other VP picks of the past:
Sarah Palin’s most noted characteristics:
1- Has many kids (5)
2- Less than two years as Gov. of a state (Alaska)
3- Is a big-game hunter (Moose anyone? XD)
4- Is young by political standards {Leading to the charge that’s she’s too inexperienced} (She’s 44, McCain is 71, and Obama is 47)
I’m sure it’s been spread all over the net already on who she’s similar too, but pray tell and amuse me: Which VP pick of U.S. history is like Sarah Palin with those 4 characteristics? XD
Excuse my absence
September 19, 2008 at 6:55 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentIt’s been a long while since I’ve updated so I feel the need to tell why:
I got another job for now (Janitorial) on top of my current job at a drycleaners, so I’m tired. XD I do plan to post some on weekends after I study. So I’m sorry for my absence, but I do plan on returning!

A BBC picture article on Afgan children and their current daily school life. The school and children live in Sherzad district on the border with Pakistan. A common element in many of the stories is long walks, noise from helicopters, and outdoor class…
Boy Anornexia

While many people are all too aware of the female body-image problem, there are men who too feel compelled to achieve the “perfect” body. A doctor in the UK, Dr. Morgan, has been seeing a rising number of men with eating disorders that typical are thought to afflice girls more so: Anornexia.
It’s a different way that men are doing this, at least they way we are usually taught or here:
“There are men who have problems with compulsive exercise and excessive bodybuilding who have an illness, but we haven’t defined them. Our definitions of illness have been focused on women, rather than men.” -Dr. Morgan
While it’s always been there, it seems the pressure to be pretty and thin is beginning to spread to both genders.
Some proposals to help solve this problem that I’ve heard: (Not in article)
1. Educating parents about the disorders and giving them the necessary information on how to help a child get a healthy body image.
2. School recieving more funding for educating students
3. Imposing laws on the things that may cause this (Smut-magazines and such)
Maybe a combo of all 3 might help, but I, personally, think it’d be best to educated the parent and child together so they can both understand the disorder.
