Best and Worst of Anime and Manga

I like watching Anime. But I’m not a complete otaku and never will be. Figurines, cosplay, and hentai all creep me out in varying degrees. With that said these are in MY OPINION (Some may think I’m being hateful so….), the best of the best. Remember: These are series I’ve have seen at least twice in their entirety. Every fan needs to know and see these period.
1.) Cowboy Bebop- This series almost single-handily opened the door for Anime on Adult Swim and elsewhere.
2.) Trigun- Who can’t love and sympathize with Vash the Stampede?
3.) Texhnolyze- I’ll admit the first episode is very boring but the rest is in the Oh my Gosh category that’ll leave you guessing and wondering.
4.) FLCL (Fooly Cooly, Furi Kuri)- Insanity=Brilliance, it’s lack of a obvious plot entice the viewer like no other. Music also kicks arse!
5.) Neon Gensis Evangelion- One of the Best of the ’90s, this series helped change the way Anime is looked at forever.
6.) Tie! Between- Welcome to the NHK and Wolf’s Rain- Both amazing in their own right. NHK is comedy, yet you can’t help but feel sorry for Satou-kun for his blunders and hallucinations. Wolf’s Rain is a well-thoughout piece of work. The ending doesn’t quite sit well with me but I have no other ideas for one at the moment……
7.) Studio Ghibli- Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies, etc.- Animation at it’s best, amazing seeing how little a computer is involved in the process. It’s made for all types of audiences- children, hardcore fans, casual movie goers, etc.
8.) Genshiken- A simple yet enjoyable look at the life of an Anime/Manga club: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture! Each character is a certain aspect of the otaku, very fun to watch and very informative.
9.) Samurai 7- Being one of the most costly anime ever produced, this series could have failed horribly. But it didn’t, Amazing visuals combined with the right amount of action and plot development help this series stand out among the oh-so-many other samurai themed Anime.
Later will be the worst/overrated shows! Be prepared~

“Every fan needs to know and see these period.”
hehe That is quite a strong statement
From your list I have not seen: Samurai 7, Genshiken, Texhnolyze. I would not put Trigun, FLCL, and Welcome to the NHK on the list, but that is just my opinion. While I have not seen Samurai 7, I find it interesting that you prefer this show over Kenshin OVAs.
This is my list, but it is not “every fan needs to know and see these period” list – just some of the anime I enjoyed

I haven’t seen all the Kenshin OVAs (I’m not commenting on series I’ve haven’t seen in their entirety), it’s on my list to watch, so Samurai 7 is my favorite for now! But it might change….=P
